Well 2006 was a sad time for our dogs. Nikita had to be put down in September due to ongoing issues with her legs. I couldn't bring myself to stay with her when they put her to sleep and I wish I had so she would not feel so alone. I felt so bad. Luger was starting to have issues due to wobblers and issues with his spine. I think he started getting worse when Nikita disappeared from his life. He had to be put to sleep in June. I stayed with him when they put him down and I cry everytime I think about it. I wish there was something I could have done for him but he was just too old to pull through any surgerys. This was the hardest decision I ever made. I still cry when I think about them. I have never cried as much as I did when I had to say good bye to Luger. I know they had a wonderful life so where ever they are now, it must be pure heaven.....
